I’m trying to narrow done how I want everything to go. So that after the photographs are taken the whole process goes much quicker. I had always thought that I wanted the song “Youth” by Daughter to play through out my animation. Below are the lyrics and the video. I thought that it was a song that fit with the feel of my animation, but recently I have been reconsidering it. I began feeling as though a simple voice over would be more effective and powerful.
“Youth”
Shadows settle on the place, that you left.
Our minds are troubled by the emptiness.
Destroy the middle, it’s a waste of time.
From the perfect start to the finish line. And if you’re still breathing, you’re the lucky ones.
‘Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs.
Setting fire to our insides for fun
Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong
The lovers that went wrong. We are the reckless,
We are the wild youth
Chasing visions of our futures
One day we’ll reveal the truth
That one will die before he gets there. And if you’re still bleeding, you’re the lucky ones.
‘Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone.
We’re setting fire to our insides for fun.
Collecting pictures from the flood that wrecked our home,
It was a flood that wrecked this home. And you caused it,
And you caused it,
And you caused itWell I’ve lost it all, I’m just a silhouette,
A lifeless face that you’ll soon forget,
My eyes are damp from the words you left,
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest. And if you’re in love, then you are the lucky one,
‘Cause most of us are bitter over someone.
Setting fire to our insides for fun,
To distract our hearts from ever missing them.
But I’m forever missing him.And you caused it,
And you caused it,
And you caused it
Now that I had decided to do a voice over I will need to record it very soon. I am planning on doing it next week, so that I can then figure out the timing. Below is the first version of my script. I am debating a few lines, but I think that the overall feel of it is right. I haven’t decided on a font for the text to appear on the screen either, but I think I want to use something that either brings the feel of childhood or desolation, I can’t quite decide. The script really makes more sense with the visuals. I’m really not happy with the line that is italicized, but I’m going to play with it more. Now I just need to find some music or some sound to play so that it is not simply my voice and silence. As soon as my voice-over gets recorded I will be able to solve that problem.
When I was a little girl
it seemed to be the perfect start.
Then he left
And the middle just seemed wrong.
I tried to focus on chasing my dreams.
But the response was always the same.
I decided to make one last leap
And everything was turned on it’s head.
It all seemed bigger and brighter.
I just hope
it stays that way…
